Valuable learnings for Honda Racing UK
Honda Racing UK wraps up a weekend of racing at round nine of the FIM Superbike World Championship at Cremona, Italy, gaining valuable information and strengthening relationships.
Competing onboard his modified Honda Racing UK CBR1000RR-R Fireblade SP, Tommy Bridewell and the team exploited the wildcard chance with their sights also set on gathering as much valuable data as possible to share within the Honda racing network. By the end of the weekend, having completed almost 70 laps of the 2.34-mile Cremona circuit, this was certainly achieved.
In the opening feature race of the weekend, Tommy raced hard from 24th on the grid to a solid 18th place finish at the flag, his best result of the weekend, before finishing the 10-lap Superpole Race in 21st.
Following the Superpole Race, the team identified a technical problem with the motorcycle which they were unable to resolve in time for Race 2, and so withdrew from the remainder of the weekend.
Although not the end to the weekend that the team wanted, participation in the event has helped to solidify important relationships within both the paddock and the wider Honda racing programs.
Honda Racing UK now turns its attention to round ten of the British Superbike Championship at Donington Park, 27 - 29 September.

It has been a challenging weekend of racing for sure, but this weekend has been about more than just the racing. We’ve gained a whole heap of data and learnt some new things about the bike in a different spec and using more electronics, which ultimately is of benefit for racing here and in BSB.Race 1 - 18th, Superpole Race - 21st

This weekend has been a valuable learning experience for the whole team. To participate in a World Superbike championship weekend and work closely with our HRC colleagues to progress the Fireblade project has been challenging for certain, but rewarding in equal measure. We have collected invaluable data and information with which we can further analyse and continue to improve.
